NITLE (National Institute for Technology & Liberal Education)

NITLE is a community-based, non-profit initiative dedicated to helping undergraduate-centered colleges, universities, and educational organizations use technology effectively to strengthen undergraduate education.

Union's participation in NITLE allows faculty and staff to participate in professional development programs, workshops, seminars, and training.

Cost of Attending

Union College will pay for a limited number of course registration units, provided that units are still available and that the desired program meets the objectives of the attendee and the College.

Travel expenses related to attending the program are paid for according to the following guidelines:

    Faculty:          Academic Affairs will pay up to $500 toward travel expenses.  Expenses over $500 can be covered
                           by each faculty member's $1500 annual faculty travel allotment, or by other research & travel funds.
   
    Non-Faculty
:  Travel expenses should be requested from your department.


How to Register

  1. Email the Union College NITLE liason (refer to contact information below) the program you wish to attend, along with a brief justification of how you will benefit from attending the program.

  2. The College's NITLE liason will verify that course units and space are available for the requested program.

  3. Once approved, travel should be arranged by the attendee.  Faculty members must complete a Faculty Travel Request Form to request funding and should submit it to the Dean of Academic Departments Office before booking any travel.  Non-faculty should request funding for travel from their supervisor before making any travel arrangements.
