Appendix A: Hazard Determination Criteria

Any material which is included on any of the following lists of chemicals shall be considered hazardous. These lists are 

  1. the OSHA Z-Tables [www.osha-slc.gov/OshStd data/1910 1000 TABLE Z  l.html. and TABLE Z_2] and 

  2. the most recent ACGIH (www.acgih.org.html) TLV booklet, 

both of which list acceptable exposure limits. Should two exposure limits differ, the most stringent will be the benchmark against which exposures are measured. An OSHA regulated material shall be considered Hazardous.

 

Criteria for Determination of An Extremely Hazardous Material

  • Any material which is listed as a Class 1 Carcinogen by IARC Carcinogens (www.iarc.com) and the class into which they fall

  • Any material which is listed as a Class A Carcinogen by NPT (National Toxicology Program)

  • Any material that is considered a Teratogen or Embryotoxin.

  • Any material with an IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) concentration of less than 100 ppm.
