College Fairs

As students begin to think about college, they often begin their search at local college fairs. Although the admissions staff members will travel to many fairs throughout the year, it is not possible to attend the hundreds for which we receive invitations. This encourages us to rely on our alumni volunteers, and because fairs are often a student's first contact with Union, presence at these events is vital to our recruiting efforts.

What happens at a college fair?

Below are some of the characteristics of a typical college fair.

  • Most college fairs last approximately 2-3 hours. You should plan to arrive about 30 minutes prior to the official start time.
  • Depending on your area and the number of college fairs there, we may ask you to help with one or two fairs a year.
  • College fairs offer time for questions! We ask that our alumni be familiar with current information about the College. We will provide you with our "Introducing Union" brochure which details our updated admissions and financial aid statistics, academic offerings, and extracurricular opportunities. You are not expected to know everything, but this brochure will help you respond to many student inquiries and provide sources for additional information.
  • Distribute Union search pieces, brochures, and collateral materials.
  • Collect student inquiry cards and return them to the Admissions Office.
  • Remember to have fun! Share your positive Union experiences with prospective students and their families! Enjoy this opportunity to recruit young men and women who might have similar stories to tell after four years at Union!
