Renewals
Schaffer Librarys computer system offers patrons the ability to view and modify their library account from anywhere. You can renew your books, view which items you have charged out, or change your address, without having to come in to the library in person. This gives you the ability to better manage your library activities to avoid accumulating overdue items and library fines.

To access your account, use any standard web browser and follow the instructions below.

From the library home page (www.union.edu/Library) click on the Library Catalogs link.

From the Library Catalogs page, click on the 'My Library' link. This link is located in the navigation bar on the left hand side of the page under the heading 'Patron Menu'.

Enter your name and library barcode in the boxes indicated. Your library barcode is the 13 digit number printed on the back of your Union ID, Schaffer Library card, or DAP card.

You are now logged in. You can now renew your Schaffer Library items, change your mailing address, e-mail address or phone number, as well as search the library catalog. You may also order Inter-Library Loan (ILL) items. You MAY NOT, however, renew Inter-Library Loan items. Renewal of Inter-Library Loan items must be done through the ILL office. Please call 388-6282 to renew ILL items.

To renew your Schaffer Library items, click on the 'Checked Out Items' button. If you do not see a 'Checked Out Items' button, you have no items currently checked out of the library. Once you have a display of the list of items you have checked out up on the screen, select the items you wish to renew by clicking in the box to the left of each item. Click on the 'Renew Selected Items' button. If you want to renew ALL your items, simply click on the 'Renew All' button. Please note: some items (such as Inter-Library Loan items, DVDs, and videos) may not be renewed. If you attempt to renew such items, a note will appear informing you renewal not allowed.

To change your mailing address, e-mail address, or phone number, click on the 'Modify Record' button. Make the necessary changes in the appropriate boxes, and click the 'Submit' button. You may also choose whether you would like to have your library overdue notices and fine notices sent to you by e-mail or postal mail.

You may also search the Schaffer Library catalog by clicking on the 'Search' button. The library system has the ability to save your search results for later use. For more information on searching the library catalog, please see a Reference Librarian, or call the reference desk at (518) 388-6281.

When you are finished, don't forget to log out by clicking on the 'Log Out' button. This is especially important if you are accessing your library account at a public computer.
