MarciveWeb DOCS provides access to descriptive records for documents issued by the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) to depository libraries. It includes specific holdings information for Union College, as well as area depository libraries (State library, SUNY Albany, Skidmore, Albany Law, and Troy Public/RPI] and even links to full-text government documents available on the Internet when available.

The map collection at Schaffer Library includes United States Geological Survey topographical and geological maps in a variety of scales. Maps are not represented in the Union College Online Catalog; rather, they are searchable via print guides located in the basement. Union primarily collects only those east of the Mississippi. Patent Research via LexisNexis Academic. Search all U.S. patents from 1971 to the present, as well as the Manual of Classification. This is in the "Legal Research" Section under it's own "Patent Research" section. Google Patent Search [in Beta test as of January 2007] allows searching by a variety of patent parameters and covers the entire collection of patents made available by the USPTO�from patents issued in the 1790s through those issued in the middle of last year. They don�t currently include patent applications, international patents, or U.S. patents issued over the last few months, but plan to expand options in the future.
