Using Google

 


To use Google most effectively, it is essential that you search from the Advanced Search screen. Doing this will help you limit your results and increase their relevance to your search topic. Make the following settings for your first attempt at locating substantive and current web sites:

Language: English
Date: Past Year


For example, if you were searching for web sites on the internment of Japanese Americans during World War Two you might try the following:



You can narrow the search by limiting Occurrences to "in the title of the page," or broaden the search to include both “Japanese Americans” and “World War Two”, like this:

If you find very little or nothing using these search parameters, drop the restriction on Date.
