Prof. Koopman authors papers, gets NSF grant

Rebecca A. Koopmann, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, has authored two papers (with J. D. P. Kenney, Yale University) appearing in the Oct. 1 volume of Astrophysical Journal: "Massive Star Formation Rates and Radial Distributions from H-alpha Imaging of 84 Virgo Cluster and Isolated Spiral Galaxies," and "H-alpha Morphologies and Environmental Effects in Virgo Cluster Spiral Galaxies." She was recently awarded a National Science Foundation grant of $34,000 for a project titled "The HI Mass Function in Different Environments."
