Israeli newspaper editor to speak on impact of U.S. election

Elli Wohlgelernter, veteran journalist and editor of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, will speak on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Old Chapel on the Union College campus. The topic of his lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be "The Day After November 2: An Overview of Where the Israeli-Palestinian Situation is Headed Regardless of Who Wins on Election Day."

Mr. Wohlgelernter is also the editor of the sports and rock and roll sections of the forthcoming new edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica. He previously served as Diaspora affairs editor at the Jerusalem Post and as Israel bureau chief for the Forward. Prior to moving to Israel in 1991, he was managing editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a reporter for the New York Post, and wrote and reported the news for the Fox and ABC-TV stations in New York and Seattle and radio stations in New York and Connecticut. Mr. Wohlgelernter lives in Jerusalem.
