Prof. Tann's compositions on new CD
Two compositions by Hilary Tann, professor of music, have recently been released on CD. Her song for voice and melody instrument is recorded on "A Garland for Presteigne (Twelve New Songs Celebrating the Welsh Borders)" (www.metronome.co.uk). Earlier this summer, her string orchestra composition, "Water's Edge", was released on "American Tapestry (Chamber Orchestra Music by US Composers)" (www.northsouthmusic.org). "Water's Edge" was premiered at the Presteigne Festival in Wales in 1994. It received its first U.S. performance by the St. Cecelia Orchestra at Memorial Chapel during Union's Bicentennial celebration in 1995. Following performances in New York in 2002 and 2003, it was selected for this recording by the North/South Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Max Lifchitz.
