Rolling out the garnet carpet for admitted students
It's official: acceptance letters have been mailed to prospective members of the Class of 2010.
"We were pleased to offer admission to 41 percent of this year's record-breaking applicant pool of nearly 4,400. There were two records for Union, in sheer number and selectivity," said Dan Lundquist, dean of Admissions.
As always, April will see a shower of activities as the Admissions Office welcomes the newest crop of young scholars.
"As we prepare to roll out the red carpet to our admitted students and their families, I ask for your support on these special and crucial days," Lundquist said.
Here's what's on tap: The next two Mondays, April 10 and 17, are Accepted Student Days, with hundreds of visitors expected on campus, eager to confirm all the good things they already know about Union and to learn more.
In addition, Saturdays in April will include Admissions mini-sessions with student discussion groups and tours.
A multicultural program and Scholars Program preview are set for April 9-10, with "Taste of Union," an introduction to College clubs, set for April 9. "Just for Juniors" is April 14-24.
There will be a tour for guidance counselors on Tuesday, April 25.
Of course, if you see new "admits" and their families strolling across campus, please take a moment to offer a warm College welcome.
