Residential Life Director Todd Clark and Jen Libous '08 will show slides and talk about their participation in Union's Hurricane Katrina relief trip on Friday, April 7, 6-7 p.m. in Everest Lounge, Hale House as part of the Lenten Simple Supper series hosted by the Catholic Student Association.
From Nov. 29 through Dec. 6, a Union College group – 29 students in all, plus Clark and Viki Brooks-McDonald, campus Protestant minister and interfaith chaplain – traveled to New Orleans on the "alternative winter break."
They worked tirelessly on a range of projects, including repairing schools and a church near the home of Laura Eyman '06. The program generated considerable media interest, and upon its return, the group was cited by the Schenectady City Council.
"The work done by Union students and staff in New Orleans was truly tremendous and inspiring," said College Catholic Chaplain Tom Boland. "It's a wonderful theme for this week's Simple Supper series, which offers an opportunity for students to get together and discuss topics related to the Lenten season."
On April 14, the final Simple Supper will include a discussion about charity vs. justice.
