Sorum Book Club picks two
Sorum House Book Club has chosen two books for winter term (read one or both): "My Freshman Year: What a Professor Learned by Becoming a Student," by Rebekah Nathan; and "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. Nathan, a sociologist writing under a pseudonym, taught for two decades before deciding to enroll in her own university as a freshman to gain an understanding and appreciation of contemporary college life. Haddon's novel features Christopher John Francis Boone, an autistic 15-year-old who is gifted with a superbly logical brain, which he uses to find the killer of a neighbor's dog. The book club is open to the Union community, family and friends. Participants are asked to contribute $5 per book to offset costs. Contact Liz Favorito '07 at favorite@union.edu by Friday, Nov. 3 to sign up.
