Ainlay, McCarty join diversity dialogue in NYC

President Stephen Ainlay and Therese McCarty, interim vice president for Academic Affairs and dean of the faculty, attended a meeting of the Consortium on High Achievement and Success (CHAS) in New York City in December.

Representatives from more than 30 highly selective liberal arts colleges gathered to discuss diversity initiatives on their campuses.

"CHAS will provide us with opportunities to bring students, faculty and administrators together to learn about best practices," Ainlay said. "We will continue working with CHAS and other outside organizations that can help us improve Union's campus culture." 

The report of the Presidential Commission on Building a Better Community is expected to be issued this term.
