Library web site cited by netConnect, Journals

Schaffer Library was one of two academic libraries to win the inaugural netConnect Library Web Site Award sponsored by netConnect, Library Journal, School Library Journal, and Jones e-global library, a publisher of internet-based academic research collections.

The awards are accompanied by grants of $1,500.

Features of the Library site identified by the award as "exemplary work that can be emulated across the industry" include a customized interface to the online catalog, an automatically-generated new acquisitions list, subject-oriented guides integrating access to library research materials and remote electronic resources, an e-journal targeted at librarians involved in compact disc collection building, and support for information literacy instruction.

The Web Design Committee is chaired by Gail Golderman, electronic media librarian. Members include Bruce Connolly, David Fuller, David Gerhan, and Annette LeClair.
