Professor Charles Steckler cited at regional art show

Charles Steckler, professor of theater and resident designer, was awarded a juror's prize at the 2002 exhibition of the Mohawk-Hudson Regional at the Albany Institute of History and Art in August. The works, shadowbox dioramas, were created during Steckler's sabbatical fellowship residency at the Vermont Studio Center last winter and were exhibited at the Red Mill Gallery in Johnson, Vt., in December. The dioramas are featured this month in a one-person show at the Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery in Brattleboro, Vt. An exhibit of Steckler's stage designs, "Setting The Stage," will accompany the dedication of the new Butzel Art Gallery at the Schenectady School of the Fine Arts. The exhibit runs though Dec. 31. An upcoming group show at Cyclics Corporation on Technology Drive in Schenectady will present Steckler's masks and small wall constructions. The show opens Nov. 22.
