Hike From Salem Planned
A planned 60-mile hike from Salem, N.Y., to campus on Oct. 10 and 11 is to re-enact the 1795 journey to Union by Salem native John Savage, one of Union's first students.
Savage, who graduated in 1799, went on to a distinguished law career and became chief justice of the New York State Supreme Court.
President Roger Hull is planning to participate in the hike.
