Erik Espana '00, Web programmer, thought he was hearing things. And he was: a constant tapping from the wall to the right of his desk on the second floor of the Communications Office at 69 Union Ave.

So, one recent afternoon, Espana and some colleagues went to investigate. It turns out the noise was (and is) caused by a small woodpecker which apparently is feeding on insects it finds in the siding of the building outside his office.

Espana's next task was to endure the long list of explanations offered by colleagues. Said one: "Maybe it's all the bugs in your code."

At press time, the woodpecker, the insects and Espana remain.
