Homecoming and Family Weekend on Oct. 16 through 19 is chock full of activities in what Alumni Relations Director Nick Famulare is calling "a celebration of people coming back to a place they know, and a welcoming to new members of the Union family."
The renovated rink will be dedicated at the start of the men's hockey game against Merrimack on Saturday at 7 p.m. Messa, senior vice president of Ayco Co., and his wife, Colleen, have donated $1.5 million for the renovation including the replacement of the ice refrigeration system, expansion of the ice surface, enhanced seating, new boards and glass, and renovations to the lobby and locker rooms. The rink, now a year-round facility, is home of the men's and women's Division I ice hockey programs, intramurals, and community hockey and skating programs.
Among the highlights will be "An Evening with Union Entrepreneurs" on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Nott Memorial. Speakers will include John Ciavacco '87, president and CEO of Cyclics Corp.; Ted Eveleth '87, COO and CFO of Cylics; Les Trachtman '77, president and CEO of Trancentive, a global equity compensation firm; and Janie Tremlett '78, CEO of Cyclebridge, a firm offering technology solutions to corporations. Moderator is Bobby Syed '03, president and founding member of Union's E-Club, the student-run entrepreneurship club. The event is sponsored by the College's new Center for Analysis of Productivity and Entrepreneurship (CAPE), E-Club and the Eliphalet Nott Society, a group of Union entrepreneurs, inventors and business leaders.
