Kaplan reviews fisheries regulations
Ilene M. Kaplan, professor of sociology, reviewed the September meetings of the New England Fisheries Management Council, particularly with regard to the new scallop fisheries regulations that are under consideration by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The proposed regulations deal with fisheries resource protection and the impact of fishermen and fishing communities. Kaplan has been cited as one of the leading national experts on fisheries in New Bedford, the highest ranked commercial port in the United States for scallops and groundfish.
