A standing committee of Union College dedicated to excellence in teaching


Membership

The Committee on Teaching (COT) consists of one member from each of the four divisions, appointed for a three year term, and the director of the Educational Studies program.  The members of the COT take turns chairing the committee, ordinarily for one year terms.

Charge

1. To develop and implement a program of faculty development in the area of teaching in order to help ensure that faculty reach their full potential as teachers.

2. In the pursuit of the above objective, to increase the opportunities for faculty to engage in productive discussions among themselves on how to invigorate the teaching enterprise as it takes place within, but also without, the classroom.

3. In the pursuit of the above objectives, to pay special attention to the needs to address the problems and needs of beginning teachers, especially those who are members of groups historically under-represented at Union.
