Check out the new online archive documenting the Asian garden(s) built by the Asian Garden Design seminar (AAH 70) from 2003 onwards. Prof. Cura will discuss the construction of the archive in an ITS-sponsored lecture in Humanities 112 on Thursday, 4 November, 12:30-1:30.

::Upcoming Events::
The East Asian Studies program is proud to offer this year's cultural series, "Performing Asian America," a series of performances, speakers, and other events that focus on the complexities of exploring and expressing Asian American identity through performance.

Monday, November 7th 2005; Nott Memorial The Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble will be performing in the Nott Memorial. Members of the ensemble will also be leading a master class on taiko. The time and location are to be announced.
Monday, May 23rd 2005; Comedian Amy Anderson will be performing at Union College! This event is brought to you by ASU. The place and time are to be announced.
Thursday, May 19th 2005. 5:00 pm; ARTS 215 The Ceramic Traditions of East Asia (AAH63) class welcomes guest speaker Dr. Patrick DeVries of the University of Zurich. He will deliver a public lecture, "Daoist Symbols of Immortality and Longevity on Late Ming Dynasty Porcelain"
Thursday, May 12th 2005. 7:00 pm; Nott Memorial "Slant: A Kaleidoscope" A performance by the three-man Slant Performance Group that satirizes stereotypes about Asian-American masculinity. Admission is FREE!!
Monday, May 2nd 2005; ARTS 215 "Transnational Taiko: Encounter Fantasy and Festival in Asian American Drumming" A multi-media presentation by Deborah Wong (University of California, Riverside). Deborah Wong will also be directing a master class on Union's own taiko that same afternoon.
April 11th - April 15th; Union College Monks from India's Gaden Jangtse Monastery to present arts and culture, including the building of an intricate sand mandala. More details about the various events can be found here.
Monday, January 24th, 2005. 7:00pm; Old Chapel "Paper Son": A one-man performance about Chinese immigration by comedian Byron Yee. You can find the press release of this great performance here.
Thursday, February 3rd, 2005. 7:30pm; Yulman Theater "Shangri-la": A jazz opera about the sex trade in Thailand. This event will be followed by a symposium the next day, February 4th with the author of the opera, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusuf Komunyakaa, and composer Susie Ibarra.
