Primary Goals for
Seminar Participants

4. Get my website up and running.

5. I want to learn more about setting up a DL course - I want to plan a web site that will help our faculty and support them on web design and using that for their classes.

I also want to learn what can I do for my future? I teach in the physical therapist assistant program and am a licensed PT in Ct. I have my MS in exercise science but I want to go into graphic design/ web authoring at this point in my life. I am very comfortable using the computer and have used one since the Apple 2c was out???!!

I would like to teach these courses since I love to teach.

9. I want to redesign my courses (in composition, literature, and film study) using the most promising new technologies (especially multimedia and the internet) and the most current, reliable research.

11. Mainly I hope to share and acquire new ideas about teaching all the databases we have. I hope to construct "web tutorials" which the faculty or students could use to get short tips on what the database contains, and how to most efficiently use them.

14. See what others are doing and share some of my own ideas.

15. On one level, I hope to further develop my expertise in advanced technologies, particularly, web-based and graphics as they might apply to undergraduate work. On another level, I would like to explore ways in which my students can learn on-line and be more aware of their own skills in learning on-line.

16. I hope to learn how to better integrate computers, telecommunications, and other forms of technology effectively into my teaching and into my students' learning in order to enhance their learning as well as their future teaching. I also hope to learn more about the "big picture" of information technology and the "right" questions to ask in planning for the future.

17. Continued exposure to other multimedia packages.

18. Very interested in web authoring and web-enhanced teaching.

21. A good sense of the possible, the common, and the effective methods in technologically enhanced learning.

24. The knowledge and confidence to more fully integrate the use of technology into my classes and help/inspire others to do so.

25. Designing web syllabi and Internet discussion.

27. I am looking for examples of successful models of using computer technology in and outside of the classroom.

28. How to develop a website which will aid learning and teaching.

30. Pedagogical aspects of technology for teaching/learning; may be some technology tools; networking with colleagues of similar interest

33. I hope to be informed of current research in the application of educational technology in the composition classroom. In addition, my department chair has asked me to design the English Department homepage this summer and I would greatly appreciate your advice/assistance.

34. Want to learn and increase proficiency in3. (a) through (h). Plus
a. learn litt. Search using AEA's J of Ec Litt database and other sources.
b. Retrieving data from national and international sources.

35. To be able to modernize our chemistry classes.

38. I hope to develop some skill and confidence in constructing web pages with active syllabi, both for use in my own courses and for instructing faculty colleagues. These pages would promote regular online course discussion, interactive instruction, and access to relevant online academic resources. I'm also eager to learn the use of PowerPoint to supplement classroom instruction. As I noted in my application to the seminar, although I chair the campus-wide Technology Committee, I certainly am a neophyte in this area. I very much look forward to working with you and the other seminar participants.

39. We hope to get a jump-start on our planning for our technology-centered introductory economics courses. We will be offering these in the fall semester, each section will have two large meetings each week and then a smaller computer lab session with only twenty or so students. One of our main goals for the courses is to encourage students to use technology as they do economics, as they more actively participate the kinds of projects that economists do in the "real world". We are quite anxious to get together with like-minded folks and to more fully develop our ideas for the course.

42. (priority is not implied)
A. A broad perspective on the relationships among technology, teaching, and learning.
B. New ideas for using technology in the teaching and learning process.
C. More knowledge so that I can think deeply and critically about technology and higher education.

43. Methods for encouraging faculty and administrators to establish an on-line presence.
Sources for funding for incentives for faculty.
Networking with like-minded people.

46. We have applied for a grant. If we get it, I will be in charge of designing and running (with help from outside experts) seminars to show our faculty how to make the most of technology in their classes. I want to learn as much as I can from the FRN seminar that I can pass along to the faculty.
