The New England is a complex region with metamorphism ranging in age from Proterozoic (Grenville age) to Mesozoic. The most widespread metamorphism is broadly middle Paleozoic and includes the Devonian Acadian Orogeny. Metamorphic grades range from essentially unmetamorphosed to granulite facies.
