Quantifying Critical Consensus: Methodology >>

Although the sources used here focused mainly on CDs, Uncut and Mojo did have separate (ranked) sections for the best DVDs of the year. I culled just the 2003 DVD releases from the BBC Music Magazine, Guitar World, and Tracks lists, which identified essential DVDs. Both the Gramophone Awards and Classic Record Collector historical listing recognize the best DVD of the year, and I selected additional classical music DVDs from the separate Gramophone "Critics' Choice" and Fanfare "Want List." The JazzTimes readers poll was essentially a dead heat, so all titles were scored equally.
