Most Schaffer Library online resources, including subscription databases, reference materials,
and e-journals, are available off-campus to faculty, staff, and registered students.
A new service called VPN has been installed and replaces the Union College Proxy server. A VPN
account is required for access to many of the above resources, and can
be obtained at the Information Technology Services (ITS) office during regular hours of operation.
VPN
stands for Virtual Private Network, and it is used to create a secure means
of access for off-campus users (e.g. from your home computer). With
the VPN you can access network resources such as Schaffer Library's
Databases & Indexes page, the Union FTP server, and other campus servers. You can
also map drives to acad-users and other servers on campus. To get a
VPN account, stop by ITS and fill an application for an off-campus account.
