C.     To become aware of basic library policies, procedures, and services including using other libraries directly or through interlibrary loan/document delivery

 

II.    Using the Union College WebCatalog

A.     To search for a known item by author and title

B.     To search by subject and keyword

C.     To interpret catalog information correctly

D.     To search for a magazine, newspaper, or scholarly journal

 

III.     Critical Evaluation of Internet Resources

A.     To connect to a research-oriented Internet Resource via The Freshman Preceptorial Website

B.     To rate the contents, credibility, design, and navigational features of a selected Website

C.     To identify additional features of the site that are suited to student research purposes

 

IV.     Searching the Literature

A.     To search online databases by subject

B.     To recognize what our Library owns and how to find it as well as to discover how to access and obtain materials, both in conventional hard copy and electronic formats, that are not held by the Library.

C.     To identify appropriate types of reference sources, including electronic ones, and to make critical assessments regarding their reliability and value for research purposes.
