| Finding a Union College Thesis in the Library |
|
Union College honors and masters theses and PhD dissertations are accessible in the
Schaffer
Library Catalog through thesis author,
title, department / program title and keyword searches. Information about thesis advisors is not listed in the catalog.
Two of the most effective types of searches, department / program title and keyword searches, are explained below. 1. Finding theses by department / program title Select a title search in the Schaffer Library Catalog and enter the name of the department or program, generally followed by the term dept or program, and ending with the term thesis. You can also use the list of department and program names for theses given below. Search hint: If you wish to restrict your search to a particular year, add the year after the term thesis. Example:
Department and Program Names Used for Theses Search hints: Any name listed below can be copied and pasted into the title search box in the Schaffer Library Catalog. Be sure to review the entire list. Department and program names have varied over the years, and you may need to search on more than one name in the title index in order to retrieve all theses in a discipline.
If you are not certain of the title
or author of a thesis, or you do not know the name of the department in which
it was done, select a keyword search in the Schaffer Library Catalog.
Then enter any words, phrases and department information that you know, joined by the term
and. Sample keyword searches in the Schaffer Library Catalog:
psychology dept and disabled children political science dept and election? blood pump and union
