Carla Reeves

On top of the Pyramid of the Moon, Teotihuacan during the Term Abroad Program in Mexico, Winter 2007

Title of Honors Senior Project in Spanish: "Un legado desenmascarado: El racismo interiorizado del negro en la literatura y el teatro afrocaribeños"

Title of Thesis for Political Science: "Is There Room Under the Big Tent?: A Study of Black Republicans and the GOP's Relationship with the Black Community"

Statement: "Being a member of Sigma Delta Pi is an absolute honor. Membership in this prestigious society reflects the strong interest I have always had in the Spanish language and the Hispanic/Latino culture. Over the years, I have utilized the knowledged I've gained from my courses to study abroad in Mexico, pursue my personal interest in cultures outside of my own, and to travel independently to countries such as Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Spanish has not only made my personal and academic experiences much more interesting, but has also made me a more attractive candidate for graduate school and various positions of employment. My connection to the Spanish language will not end here. I plan to use what I have learned in my future career in corporate law (multinational corporations).
