Blackboard Requirements for On-Line Students

For on-line students to use the Blackboard courses, you must have an Internet service provider and the right applications.

Internet Service Provider

As far as an Internet service provider, any dial up modem provider will do, but we recommend a high speed provider, such as a Road Runner, or DSL connection to fully take advantage of all the multimedia value of Blackboard.

Here are our recommendations:

• A Road Runner Connection by Time Warner Cable.
• An DSL connection through a qualified service provider

A dial up modem connection by a qualified service provider would provide a minimally adequate connection.

Recommended Applications

For applications, you need the latest web browser from Microsoft, and any necessary helper applications to view the files.

• For Windows: Internet Explorer
• For Mac OS: Safari

Minimum Computer Requirements

• 64 MB of memory (more preferred)
• Windows XP
• Macintosh System: Mac OS X
• A local printer
