How to Use the Slide Scanner

To use the slide scanner on the computer in FCRC, follow these steps:

You must set up the computer to use the scanner first.

Follow these steps in order to scan a slide. 

Insert your slide into the scanner (insert it upside down facing yourself)

 

In the preview pane that the computer starts on click 'Preview'

 

Rotate your slide accordingly, so that it is facing the right direction

 

Fix the borders to the desired location

 

Click on the Scan Pane

 

Select your desired resolution

 

Select your desired size of width and height

 

If you are scanning the image for print:

If you are scanning the image for display:

 

Fine tune the borders again



Click Scan when done

 

Select the place to save your image and click 'Save'

 

Your Image is Now Saved

An example image that is created for display is below.  It was converted to a jpeg in Photoshop, and was scanned at 72 dpi and 480 by 320 pixels.

 

Finishing Thoughts:

Repeat the following steps to scan another slide.  Go to File-> Exit when you are finished.  You can now edit your images if desired in you favorite image editing software.
