The Jerome A. Schiff Faculty Research Award
Award Description
The Jerome A. Schiff Faculty Research Award will provide $30,000 to a faculty member who is doing innovative research and who has applied for, but has not received external funding. Awards should be used to support research. Applications will be judged based on the following criteria:
- The degree of innovation of the research project. Interdisciplinary research will receive strong consideration.
- Impact of award. A clear case should be made that this funding will facilitate the innovative nature of the research program.
- Demonstration of past efforts to obtain external funding.
Award Application
Applications must include the following sections.
- Project Description
Describe the overall goals of the research project, the current stage of development, and the plans for making further progress.
- Budget
Provide a budget that describes how this award would be used to further your research project.

- Impact Statement
Explain how the expenditures in the budget will impact your research.
- Past Grant Applications
Provide information on grant applications that you have submitted, including funding agency, title and date of application, and budget total. If feedback from reviewers is available, include that as well.
Applications should be submitted to Judy Ludwig by July 1. The award recipient will be chosen by the academic deans.
