Enhancing Students' Writing Experiences

The Writing Board encourages faculty to explore other methods of enhancing students' writing experiences by practices such as the following:

  • including non-graded, writing-to-learn experiences within their courses to promote class discussion and the exploration of ideas;
  • providing handouts on writing skills and copies of sample papers, analyses, or reports;
  • providing opportunities for peer reviews of written work;
  • devoting class time to the discussion of writing;
  • sending students to the Writing Center when appropriate. The Writing Center provides tutors for students who are having difficulty at all stages of the writing process, style manuals and writing handbooks for students and faculty to consult, and occasional workshops;
