Project Description:
Throughout this project I spent a lot of time searching for the historical documents of various healthcare organizations and any information regarding the alternative medical techniques of homeopathy, hydropathy, Christian science, osteopathy, herbal and chiropractic. All of the information was obtained from documents dated between 1850-1965. The main purpose of this project was to find out about patient activism during the late 19th century and early 20th century. How were patients placing their healthcare in their own hands? Were patients of the time solely relying on the advice of physicians or were many turning to alternative medical techniques?
