Summer Research Expectations/Requirements
8-Week Summer Research Fellowships
Student receives $3800 stipend. Housing is available for $600/8 weeks.
Expectations:
- Student must work full time for 8 weeks (or on an alternate schedule that adds up to the same number of hours) over the summer. The number of hours and the daily schedule will be determined by your research advisor and will differ from project to project. Be sure to ask about the schedule when meeting to discuss the project.
- Student must meet regularly – in person – with the faculty sponsor during the summer.
- Student must present the results of the summer project in the summer seminar series, in a special poster session to be scheduled at Homecoming/Family Weekend in the fall of 2013, or at the 2014 Steinmetz Symposium. Selection of an appropriate presentation venue will be made by the research advisor in consultation with the student.
- Student must write a final paper summarizing the summer project, in a format approved by the faculty sponsor. The student's last paycheck will be withheld until this report is submitted.
- Student must complete a survey about the summer research experience.
Student must submit information about the project for the Undergraduate Research portion of the Union College web site, in the format specified by the Director of Undergraduate Research.
6-Week Summer Research Fellowships
