The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) was established in 1985 by the NYS Legislature to prepare historically underrepresented students in the sciences or economically disadvantaged students in grades 7 – 12 for entry into postsecondary degree programs in scientific, technical, health-related, and licensed professions. Since 1996, the Union College STEP summer camp offers students an intensive three-week learning opportunity through classroom instruction, educational field trips and mentorship by Union College students. Camp Rince Ceol is Irish for dance and music. Now in its third year at Union College, Irish Dance camp is open to dancers who have a minimum of two years Irish Dance experience with a certified Irish Dance Teacher OR three years with non-certified Irish Dance teacher. This is an opportunity for kids to come together, in a non-competitive atmosphere, and enjoy their common hobby of Irish Dance.

Three sessions are offered in 2009:

  • Session 1: July 12-17
  • Session 2: July 19-24
  • Session 3: July 26- 31 


Educating Girls in Engineering

A select group of high school girls from across the country will take part in a two-week residential engineering workshop taught by Union College Engineering and Computer Science faculty and high school teachers. The workshop theme, Toys and Tools for Disabled Children, focuses on developing activities and communication skills of children with special needs. July 12, 2009 to July 25, 2009

This is a two week day program for students from the Schenectady City School District entering grades 6, 7, and 8. The day will consist of programs and activities focusing on the Chinese Language and Culture.
