Facilities Services Recognized for Excellence Program
The Facilities Services Department at Union has been awarded the 2008 APPA Effective and Innovative Practices Award. The $4,000 award is given annually by the APPA Leadership in Educational Facilities organization, and sponsored by Sodexho USA.
Facilities Services representatives; Rich Patierne, Alan Kratzke, Raffaela Viscusi, Tom Litts, and Loren Rucinski accepted the award at the APPA annual convention in San Antonio, Texas in July.
Subsequent to that, Facilities was asked to do a presentation on the Excellence Program which won the award at the Eastern Region annual meeting of ERAPPA in Baltimore. Facilities representatives Diana Mirabile, Mike Connelly, Rich Patierne, and Loren Rucinski gave the presentation.

Grounds Award
In November, 2002 Union College received an Honor Award from the Professional Grounds Management Society. This national award is given in recognition of excellence in groundskeeping to 4 applicants each year. Grounds Manager, Tom Heisinger accepted the award in Nashville, Tennessee. Union College also received this award in 1992.
Green Star Honor Award
Union College was among 6 to receive honors in School or University Grounds Category.
The July/August 2003 issue of the PGMS (Professional Grounds Management Society) Grounds Management Forum, in cooperation with Landscape Magazine featured a short article on the Green Star Honor Award recipients. Union also was featured on the front cover.
