Assistant Professor-Asian Politics
(Tenure Track)
The Department of Political Science at Union College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in September 2010. Union College is a leading national liberal arts college with a focus on undergraduate education. We are seeking to hire a specialist in Asian Politics. Any area of research will be considered by the search committee, but we are especially interested in candidates who can offer courses on the politics of one or more Asian countries. It is strongly preferred that this would include China, and the ability to teach an upper-level course in International Relations would be an asset. The normal load is six courses across a trimester system, one of which would likely be Introduction to Global Politics. However, every year faculty supervise senior projects which count for one or two courses of the teaching load. Beyond evidence of teaching effectiveness, the successful candidate must clearly demonstrate research potential with an agenda for future work. Union College is an equal opportunity employer and is strongly committed to student and workforce diversity. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred, though ABD applications within one year of completion will be considered. Please send a cover letter, resume, three letters of reference, sample of scholarly work, teaching evaluations, and teaching materials to Michele Angrist, Search Committee, Department of Political Science, Union College, Schenectady, NY 12308. To receive full consideration, applications must be received by September 30.
