Landscape Impressions: Chasing the Light
Paintings by Brittany Gilbert, class of 2012

Wikoff Student Gallery, Nott Memorial
January 05, 2012 - February 19, 2012

Growing up in Rhode Island I have always been surrounded by vast areas of open water and space and have been fascinated with how light, seasons and weather affect their appearance. I enjoy being out in these spaces and watching the change happen before my eyes. Plein-air painting is particularly fascinating to me because I feel being personally familiar with the subject you are trying to portray is the best way to capture the scene. As I mature as an artist, I am constantly exploring new landscapes that inspire me.
