Incoming First-Year Students - Class of 2015 

If you have not yet logged into your Email account, follow these instructions:

How to Set up Your Union Email Account:

Go to the Portal
http://www.union.edu/applications/applicant_portal/

Select "Complete my Enrollment Forms" in the left column

Click on "Application for Computer Account"

Once you have your username and password, you will need to change to a new password.

Email Account

 For your reference, you can click here for the Acceptable Computer Use Policy you agreed to when registering your email account and click here for the Union College Email Policy.

The website to access the GarnetMail login page from any computer with internet access is http://mail.garnet.union.edu.  For your privacy, if you check your email from a public computer, be sure to sign out of your account when you are finished. 

Password Change

It is possible to change your GarnetMail password through the Google account settings page, but the direct link is http://password.garnet.union.eduYou must know your current password to be able to change it.  If you have forgotten your current password, you need to contact ITS at 518-388-6400 or 518-388-6293 to have it reset.

Contacting Members of the Union Community

Please be aware that although you have an @garnet.union.edu email address, all of the faculty and staff members of the Union community are using the @union.edu addresses. 

Before Coming to Campus - Updates and Virus Protection

Please be sure that your computer is fully updated with all of the latest security patches and updates!  Before using the network at Union, you will also be required to have current antivirus software.  

  • Windows: You can go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to download updates for Windows operating systems. ITS recommends that you enable "Automatic Updates" on your computer. Make sure that "Install updates automatically" is selected and choose a time for the updates to be installed that won't interfere with your computer usage.

  • Mac: You can go to the Apple menu and click on "Software Update" to obtain the newest patches and updates.

USTAR

The Union Student Technical Assistance Resources program provides students with a centralized resource for computer support.  If you have a problem with your computer, please visit the USTAR office in Steinmetz 101A.  Student technicians are available Sunday-Thursday evenings 6-10 pm.  You can also visit their website at http://ustar.union.edu or call 388-7096.

ResNet

Residential Network Services (ResNet) provides support for connecting student-owned computers and devices to the Union College Network.  You can find answers to your ResNet questions at http://resnet.union.edu or by calling 388-8707.
