ResNet

Residential Network Services (ResNet) provides support for the use of student owned computers on the Union College Network. Focus for this support is to enable the student to effectively use the network in a way which best supports their academic and social life here at Union College.

In order to connect to the Union network, a personal computer must:
•    Register according to Union’s Network Access Control (NAC) system; have DHCP enabled, and must be able to obtain an IP address automatically from the ITS provided DHCP servers (the use of static addresses is prohibited unless approved in advance by the Resnet staff);
•    Capable of connecting to a 100/1000 network port
•    Capable of connecting wirelessly 802.11a/b/g/n
•    Running software, including the operating system and application software, that is legally installed and supported by the vendor, with critical patches, security hot fixes and updates installed;
•    Running antivirus software and/or other security software required to protect personal computers from intrusion or infection that adversely affects the performance or reliability Union network;
