Information Technology Services has moved back into its newly renovated
Steinmetz/Peschel home. The five-month renovation saw the Steinmetz
location completely "gutted" and rebuilt, utilizing modern modular
office design. During the renovation ITS worked out of offices in North
Colonnade (adjacent to the Arts building).
In addition to
a complete interior redesign, the exterior of much of Steinmetz Hall was
remodeled. All of the Steinmetz windows were "opened", the building
exterior was cleaned and new entrances were constructed, greatly
enhancing the appearance of the building which was opened in 1930.
The remodeling
enabled the College to better make use of space that had been carved up
"topsy-turvy" since the Computer Center was housed in the building in
the 1960’s and 70’s. With all of the windows "opened up" natural light
permeates the offices, and the center hallway is lighted by refurbished
lights from the original 1930 construction. Most of the work has been
completed, while other items are being finished daily.
