Managing and Creating Content

Managing and creating content in the CMS is easy.

  1. Viewing a Folder
    Clicking on a system folder will reveal its contents both in the left asset tree and in the main view.

  3. Creating a Page
    The easiest way to create a new page in Cascade Server is by using the Asset Factory set up by your Administrator.
  4. Copying a Page
    When creating a page that is similar to an existing page, it is often most useful to Copy the existing page and make the appropriate edits.

    Because Pages are the assets that contain the actual content, clicking Edit on a page offers much greater functionality than editing other files.

      Structured authoring simply refers to pages that do not require formatting via the WYSIWYG. Instead, pages using structured authoring (also called data definitions) allow users to type plain text into various fields, or select various options.

    3. Adding Metadata
      Metadata offers additional information about an asset (for example, a page) that helps to classify or describe the asset.
    4. Spell Check
      The Spell Checker checks and reports all words (content + metadata) that is not found in the system's dictionary.
    5. Link Check
      The Link Checker checks and reports any broken links found in an asset.
    6. Accessibility Check
      The Accessibility Checker (also known as the 508c checker) checks and reports errors that, when resolved, result in an enhanced usability ranking for published content.  
  6. Uploading a File or Image
    Cascade Server supports the uploading of any file type.
  7. Moving Assets
    Assets may be moved individually or at the folder level.
  8. Reordering Assets
    Asset reordering is a feature that enables you to manually change the order of assets within a folder.
  9. Deleting an Asset
    Assets (or system components) can be deleted by users that have write access and no workflow.
