Information Technology Services

The Office of Information Technology Services provides students, faculty, and staff a wide variety of computing services designed to optimize the educational experience.

Peschel Computing Center

Housed in the Stanley G. Peschel Center for Computer Science and Information Systems, Union's computer center is the home of a distributed network that provides access to varied computer resources.

There are more than 1,000 personal computers and workstations on campus. The network is the backbone for much of the computing on campus, including academic, research, and administrative work. The network links classrooms, office, laboratories, and all College-owned residence hall rooms. The College has many electronic classrooms that are used to enhance the academic program.

Curricular Support

Curricular Support enables faculty to use technology to enhance learning and teaching. This support enables faculty to adapt and implement computer and multimedia technologies and tools in the Freshman Preceptorial, an interdisciplinary course required of all entering students, and in other undergraduate courses.

This support also assists Union faculty in identifying and incorporating the most suitable electronic technologies and applications in the development and delivery of new interdisciplinary team-taught courses.

U-Start Business Incubator

U-Start is a high-tech business incubator center sponsored by Union College and its community partners. Located in Schenectady, it is designed to stimulate and spawn new entrepreneurial ventures, making it an important contributor to economic development in the Capital Region.

U-Start features professional space at below-market rates and provides expert services to high-tech start-up businesses.

Web Resources

The web resources web site provides Union College faculty, staff, and students with information on creating web pages at Union College. Features include a learning resources section, links to information and web tools, a graphics library, a frequently asked questions database, and much more.
