Union College Personal Safety Alert

An attempted robbery, no weapon, occurred last evening (February 8, 2007) at 6:00 P.M. in front of the main west entrance to the Olin building. The victim stated that he was accosted by two young males approximately 18-19 years of age, 5’ 9”, wearing black puffy coats and hooded sweatshirts. The subjects announced that they were robbing the student and demanded that he empty his pockets; the student refused and attempted to leave. One of the subjects pushed the student and again demanded that he empty his pockets. A second student approached, and the victim left the area with him and called Campus Safety. The two subjects fled the scene toward the Schaffer Library. Campus Safety officers immediately responded to the area and conducted a comprehensive search. Local police were contacted and also searched the area. The subjects were not located.

We all have to remain alert to safety when walking on Union's campus.
