What to do
What to do if you are a victim of harassment based on sexual orientation:
- It is important to remember that you are protected from harassment by policies established by Union College, and by County and State law.
- Talk to someone with whom you feel comfortable about what you have experienced. Keep a record of your experiences.
- Be informed. Don't accept stereotypical characterizations and beliefs.
- If someone who is gay or lesbian tells you that they have been harassed because of their sexual orientation, show respect and be supportive. Offer to accompany the person to file a complaint.
