Academic Graduate Programs (GRE)

  • Programs vary with discipline and degree sought; application deadlines can be as late as February but are often in mid to late Fall. The General Test and Writing Assessment are given year-round at computer-based test centers worldwide. Subject tests are paper based. The test center closest to Union College is: Prometric Testing Center, 855 Central Avenue, Albany, New York 12206, (518) 438-6762. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. To register to test elsewhere in the U.S., call 1-800-GRE-CALL.

  • Refer to the GRE Information Bulletin available at the Becker Career Center or online at Graduate Record Examinations
  • Students planning to take any of the graduate admission tests should read the information bulletins carefully. The GRE Bulletin stresses that you:
    • Find out from graduate school and fellowship agencies the score-reporting deadlines you will have to meet. These may be earlier than your application deadlines. Take the test required at least two months before your earliest score-reporting deadline.
    • Register early. The longer you wait to register, the less likely it is that you will be assigned to the test center you specify.
