Health Services
MISSION STATEMENT
Health Services is dedicated to providing optimal health care to our students. Students will obtain their highest level of well being, both physically and psychologically, in order to ensure a healthy lifestyle while at Union College. Students will also be provided education and support to make appropriate choices as a basis for a lifetime of good health and well being.
The Health Services, which provides treatment of illness and injuries to currently enrolled students. It is necessary for students to call our office to set up an appointment for all services. Special consideration for emergency situations will be given.
Free Health care visits are available to students who have submitted a completed:
- health record form (.pdf)
- release of medical information (.pdf)
- treatment release (.pdf)
- physical exam form (.pdf)
- immunization record (.pdf)
(These forms are also included in your First Year Book). New York State law requires college students to be immunized against measles, mumps and rubella. A Mantoux Tuberculin test and Meningititis vaccine are also required.
Emergencies
During regular Health Services hours
Students should go to Health Services, where they will be assessed.
After regular hours or in case of serious illness or injury
Students should call 6911 and Campus Safety will transport them to Health Services or to a local Hospital emergency department, depending on the situation.
Staff
Our staff consists of board-certified nurse practitioners Monday- Thursday 9:00am - 6pm and Fridays from 9am - 5pm. The remainder of our staff consists of registered nurses and a secretary/receptionist. A collaborating physician is available.

Dorm room first aid kit
Over the counter medications and supplies to keep on hand in your dorm room, especially if you have a preferred brand:
- Pain relievers/fever reducers
- Antibiotic ointment
- Cold medications including: decongestants, antihistamines, cough suppressants/expectorants, cough drops, throat lozengers, etc.
- Cleansing solution such as hydrogen peroxide
- Bandaids
- Oral thermometer
- Vitamins
- Gatorade/Ginger Ale
- Humidifier, heating pad
- Antacids
