Minerva Council Positions
House Council Chair
This year, the Minerva Houses will be holding elections for the position of House Council Chair.
The House Council Chair:
- Has a good sense for how his/her Minerva House is functioning on an everyday basis
- Chairs House Council meetings
- Works with other House Council members, the general membership, and the Assistant Director for Minerva Programs to advance House energy, spirit, interaction and reputation on campus
- Facilitates discussion on the House Council on issues ranging from how the House is used, to involving members in House events, to how it spends its funding
If you are interested in running for House Council Chair, you must email mcevoyt@union.edu by Friday, February 2nd.
Elections will be held on Wednesday, February 14th.
Minerva House Student Representative
Beuth, Sorum, and Wold are currently accepting applications for Minerva Student Representative. Application deadline is Wednesday, January 31st.
The Student Representative is defined as and responsible for:
- Sitting on the Minerva Council and his/her House Council
- Working on the overall direction of his/her House
- Playing a key role in developing policies across all Minerva Houses
- Serving as a liaison between the Minerva Council and his/her House Council
Student Reps serve one year terms (spring-fall-winter) and have the option to serve one additional year if approved by the Chair of the Minerva Council. They are selected by the current Faculty Rep and Student Rep of their respective House Council.
If you are interested in applying to be the Student Representative of your Minerva House, please submit a letter of interest that addresses the following points. Please also indicate on this letter the best way to contact you.
- Why you are interested in the position
- What qualities and/or ideas you will bring to the Minerva Council
- Your involvement in your Minerva House or your contribution to its ideals through other schools/groups you have participated in
Once applications are collected, the current Faculty Rep and Student Rep for your House will conduct interviews with applicants and select the best applicant for the position.
