Staff & Student Leadership


Although Hillel does have two part-time adult staff, the mission statement of hillel International is to engage and empower Jewish students. Most of the programming, therefore, originates from and is developed by an active student board. The board meets once a week, and meetings are open to any interested students.

Margo
Margo Strosberg

Margo Strosberg graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo and holds a Masters degree in Social Work from the same institution. She lived and worked in a variety of locations including a year in Beersheva, Israel before settling in Schenectady in 1976. While raising her five children, she taught intermittently at local synagogues, the JCC, and the Hebrew Academy of the Capital District and served as advisor to a couple of Jewish youth groups. For the past several years she has organized programming for Jewish singles (beyond college age) in the community, and she is currently the first woman president of the orthodox synagogue in town, Congregation Beth Israel. She also has nine grandchildren, seven of whom are sabras.

Bonnie Cramer

Bonnie Cramer is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University. She has spent the last two decades serving the Jewish community, from Sisterhood president to Executive Board member of her congregation. In addition to serving as the program advisor for Union Collge Hillel, she will be returning to Camp Ramah of New England for her 12th summer in her position as Rosh Mumchim. Bonnie also teaches in the Schenectady Midrasha and co- leads the art and spirituality workshop every year for the Greater New England Jewish Women's retreat. She loves young adults and feels privileged to work with the Jewish students at Union College.
