Multifaith Ministry

Why 'Multifaith'?

We are living in an increasingly religiously diverse nation. Religious intolerance has the potential to be a great societal challenge for the coming generations. Our multifaith services share a commitment to move beyond toleration to active acceptance and understanding of the 'other' in his or her faith and the practice of that faith. This understanding and acceptance has little to do with a bland non-committal approach to faith. Quite the contrary, people of faith, by definition, care deeply about their beliefs. This approach to our burgeoning pluralism has everything to do with respecting one's own tradition without the need to convince others of its superiority over theirs.

What can we offer?

Spirituality is not a pursuit undertaken only with one's intellect, though it is not devoid of it. Religious experience involves us as whole beings. College can be an amazing time to explore one's faith tradition as well as those of other people of faith. The Interfaith Chaplain, Victoria J. Brooks-McDonald, is available to support and guide you in the search for meaning within your tradition, across traditions or outside of a tradition.

  • Viki can meet with you individually to discuss your interests, questions and passions. From that point you may decide to pursue other community resources or continue the one on one conversation with Viki.
  • Your exploration may motivate you to plan and implement a campus program on a topic that relates to faith and its practice and Viki can assist you in this pursuit
  • If you, or someone you know and care about, is experiencing loss, grief or a sense of meaninglessness, people of all faith traditions may find support from our Interfaith Chaplain, as well as the other religious programs personnel.
